A Therapy Dog provides affection and comfort to people in hospitals, retirement homes, nursing homes, schools, people with learning difficulties, and stressful situations, such as disaster areas. Institutions may invite, limit, or prohibit access to therapy dogs. Proof of up-to-date rabies vaccination for the dog is required to obtain a dog license. The fee for the license is $10. The period of time a dog license is valid is two years depending on date of purchase. The City of Blaine ordinance allows three dogs to be licensed at an individual residence.
